Visiting a patient

We believe that visits from family and friends are important to patient recovery. We do not have designated visiting hours across many of our wards, except for Maternity, Coronary Care (CCU) and Intensive Care (ICU).

Please note the hospital buildings are locked after 10pm. If you need to access the hospital after this time, please use the intercom facilities located at the Level 2 and Level 4 entry doors from the P1 multi deck car park.

Visiting Coronary Care (CCU) & Intensive Care (ICU)

Our patients in Intensive Care and Coronary Care require special care and treatment. We ask that only immediate family patients in these wards, and this may be limited to one (1) visitor at a time.

Visiting Maternity

To give our new mums time to rest and recoup, our Maternity ward has a designated rest period from 1.00pm – 3.00pm daily. No visitors other than partners/support persons are allowed during this time. Visiting hours for Maternity end at 8.00pm.

Patients can have three (3) visitors per day, and whilst children are welcome only one (1) child can visit at a time. A patients’ partner/support person is considered to be one (1) of these visitors.

Infection Prevention & Control

Preventing the spread of infection within the hospital is of paramount importance to us. As a visitor hand hygiene is the single most important thing you can do to help. We have alcohol hand gel dispensers throughout our facilities, and we ask that you use soap and water, or hand gel, to cleanse your hands:

  • On entering the ward before visiting a friend or relative
  • Before helping a patient with their meal
  • After using the bathroom/toilet
  • After helping patients use the toilet/bathroom or commode
  • On leaving the ward after visiting a friend or relative
